What is Book Up?

 

Book Up is an app for sharing books.

Users can upload their own private libraries and start lending/sharing their books with other users! 

 

Uploading a Book

 

It's just too easy - all you have to so is click 'Add Book', take a picture of your book, and using OCR Abbyy Cloud - we do the rest! 

Using the text result from Abbyy, we search for your book in Google Books, and return a Profile Book just for your book!

This profile is saved in Azure Data Base, so if any other user uploads the same book - we won't search for it again :).

Once you approve the book - it's added to your chosen library.

 

Searching for a Book

 

Book Up returns the results for your book search, by ascending order of the distance between YOUR location and the library your book was found in, using GPS features :).

That way, when you're moving around you'll always have the closest books show up first in your search!

 

Why are there differnt libraries?

 

Book Up allows users to maintain more than one library. 

In case you have books in different places - for example, a library at home, a library at work or even a few books in your university locker! Book Up allows users to maintain a number of libraries simultaneously. Each library has it's own coordinates.

That way when another user searches for a book, different libraries might pop up!

 

Borrow Status

 

Each book in your library has a status - either it's borrowed or not. Once your book is borrowed, it is up to you and the other user to make sure the book is returned. We will try helping and reminding you with the Borrowing Status list.
